So Aggravating!

There is nothing more annoying then having a plan not come together. I wanted to take Craig to Las Vegas to see the opening show of Garth Brooks new tour, for Craig's 30th birthday. I had the phone pre-dialed and the website already up, just waiting for 9am to hit. At 9am and 1 second, I had everything on trying to get tickets.

THREE hours I sat in a virtual "waiting room" as they called it waiting for my spot to come up and get into the website for tickets and called the number for the ticket line over and over for the entire time. Every time I got through on the phone (it was busy 99% of the time) I got a recorded message that would just hang up on me. When I finally got through all 5 shows were sold out.

I am SO bummed. It would have been a great birthday gift for him. Our first time going on somewhere without the kids, his 30th birthday and getting to see a concert we have been waiting to see for over 10 years. Blah. I also think I am getting the flu. What a crappy day.

New pictures of the kids...

This weekend I took some photos of the kids. I didn't realize the ISO on my camera was still changed so they came out grainy but overall I think they turned out ok especially since Emma was in a MOOD and Owen is still cranky from teething. Three of the four teeth his is getting right now are almost through, so we are getting there!

Anyway, here are TONS of new pics of the kids!

Silly Emma...

After being told to do her stop watching her movie and do her "chores" (which consists of putting her toys, shoes, ect away) she throws her shoes into the basket and proceeds to wrap her hand in her shirt. She looks up at me and we have the following conversation (while she is holding her shirt/hand to her chest)

Emma: Mom, my hand hurts.
Me: Why sweetheart?
Emma: Because
Me: What does that mean? Did you hurt it?
Emma:(with total attitude she says) It MEANS that I need to go lay on the couch and watch my movie and relax! I don't have to do my chores.
Me: (trying not to laugh) You do your chores right now or I take all your movies away.

She did all her chores! At least I still have it... sometimes!

Pumpkin bread...

I posted this last year but it deserves posting again! I just made this bread again yesterday and it is still a HUGE hit!

I substitute 1/2 of the oil for applesauce and leave out the cloves. It will make two regular size loafs instead of the 3 minis.

INGREDIENTS
• 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree
• 4 eggs
• 1 cup vegetable oil
• 2/3 cup water
• 3 cups white sugar
• 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 teaspoons baking soda
• 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
• 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour three 7x3 inch loaf pans.
2. In a large bowl, mix together pumpkin puree, eggs, oil, water and sugar until well blended. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger. Stir the dry ingredients into the pumpkin mixture until just blended. Pour into the prepared pans.
3. Bake for about 50 minutes in the preheated oven. Loaves are done when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Seriously, you have to make this!

Apple Butter!

This is for you Stace! (or anyone else who wants to try it!)

Grandma Root's Apple Butter --

10 cups processed apples

5 cups sugar

2 ½ teaspoons cinnamon

1 1/4 teaspoon allspice

Cook for 4 or 5 hours – Very Low temp – the longer the darker the apple butter.

Of course Grandma went out in the backyard and picked all the apples and then processed them into applesauce herself! I just bought huge amounts of Tree Top natural applesauce that had nothing but apples and water in it. If you get regular applesauce it will already have sugar and stuff in it so it might make it taste different.

If you have questions on how to seal the jars of apple butter, just let me know!

Swine Flu!

After talking with Sarah today (great conversation Sar!) about vaccines and our kids, I found this article to be interesting.

After Beth's wedding, one of Nick's cousins came down with Swine Flu and Beth may have it too. She has some variation of the flu but her doctor doesn't test for which kind it is. She is feeling much better.

Anyway, here is an article on the new Swine Flu vaccine. Surprisingly, it does contain mercury based Thermosal in about 60% of the produced vaccines. Interesting...

A day in my life...

This is what my day is like... everyday.

12am to 6am -- wake up with Owen four or more times because of teething, bad dreams, wanting to sleep with us, ect.

7am to 7:30pm--

Break up fight over toy
feed breakfast
clean up breakfast
clean up a whole roll of toilet paper strewn all over house, crushed goldfish, spilled milk and juice. Tell them "Don't hit the dog", "Don't bite each other", "take turns", "don't draw on the walls" and so on and so on and so on. ALL. DAY. LONG. I also vacuum like 5 times every day. I can't be the only one! Right?

Just yesterday and today the highlights were:

Emma said "Don't talk to me like that, I am 18 years old", when I told her not to back talk. We are having a huge issue with not listening with her right now. She also told my Dad "My mom and dad are going to make a baby for 9 minutes" when he came over to drop off some patio furniture. Translation: When mommy and daddy have a baby it will be in mommy's tummy for 9 months. I told my dad that as quickly as possible and then changed the subject. Totally awkward!

Yesterday, I went to take my shower and when I got out Owen was in the hall/door to the bathroom with a steak knife in his hand standing over the dog. I freaked out and wondered where he could have gotten it but noticed he had unlatched the dishwasher and opened it. He loves silverware and apparently he likes knives too. Seriously, bad mom moment!

I was getting dressed after I put the knife away and came back out to find Owen covered in my MAC makeup. That really sucked!

But then I noticed Maverick a few minutes later... He was also colored a pretty shade!

I really do love my life but sometimes things are really annoying. :)

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

Today my parents celebrated their 30th anniversary! Happy Anniversary!

We love you guys!

KOOZA!

Before we had Emma, Craig and I went to see Cirque Du Soleli's Varekai when it came to Denver. It was one of the funnest nights we have ever had together. We went to Ruth's Chris for dinner and had the best food we have ever had and then went to the show after. So, when the new show Kooza came to Denver, I really wanted to go again.

Craig and I hardly ever go out without the kids. We sometimes go to events like concerts, or the Ball or something like that but we never go out to dinner or do things that are just the two of us. So, it was really different for us when we took the kids to Beth and Nicks and dropped them off whole day! Craig and I went downtown and walked around 16th street mall, had a great dinner and then went to the new Cirque show Kooza.

We definitly need to do more stuff without the kids!

The show was unbelieveable! So AMAZING! The acts are things we have all seen before -- juggling, acrobats, dancing, music, singing, controtionists. But, these performers are unparalleled. They are truly the best at what they do and it is amazing to watch. If you ever get a chance to see one of thier shows, I HIGHLY recommend it. It is worth every penny! Craig and I made a pact to go to Vegas and see one of thier permanent shows! If these are the travling artists I can't wait to see what they have in a show in Vegas!

Here is a clip of the show we saw --

The video is on the right side.

We love the weekends...

Every weekend we have the same routine -- Pancakes, play outside, yard work, games, dinner with my family, it is always the same. We love it! Here are some of the highlights...

Emma and Craig play Mario Kart everyday on the Wii. Emma is pretty good too, she finishes every race now and sometimes will win!

She loves this cat! It is almost as big as she is!

Our neighbors have these trees that line the fence and the roots grow into our yard. Well the roots grow these HUGE knots and are killing our lawn. Next year we are probably going to have to dig the entire yard up to get rid of them and bring our lawn back. Totally annoying!

After pancakes for breakfast, Owen wiped his plate on his head and covered himself in syrup!

Watching cartoons with Dad!

Playing Duck, Duck, Goose! You'll notice that Owen doesn't say "goose" he just starts screaming when he wants to start running away. SO CUTE! I didn't realize I was standing so close to the stereo so it is kind of hard to hear over the music. Sorry!

Hide and Seek! Don't mind the huge mess of toys and crap in the livingroom :)
