It's a Girl, Maggie Charlotte

Well, as most of you already know by now from emails and Facebook...Maggie Charlotte Young has arrived on the 9th of September 2010 at 11:33 a.m. She was 8 lbs 4oz, and 20 inches long. So for, she has been a little angel baby, so sweet and hardly cries. She is also already such a cuddly baby, and her favorite way to be held is on Mom's chest.

The entire family is adjusting very well, and Emma and Owen are such great a big Sister and Brother. We can tell that they both already love her so much, and want to help with everything. They get the diapers and the wipes and are great little helpers. Annie is also recovering pretty well, but it is a little harder than with Owen. Annie is one tough lady, so I know she will be fine.

Annie being the great photographer that she is took these awesome photos of Maggie at 7 days old.

Maggie won't have any shortage of pictures and attention, being the third child, because we have already have broken the 1000 pictures mark. Of course, not all of them look like the ones above, but that is the great part about digital photography - you can take 1000 pictures and it doesn't really cost anything.

Last post before new baby!

Well, I haven't been as into blogging as I once was! Haha! But, I am trying.

Things have been pretty busy around here lately. We are trying to get ready for the baby to arrive and the whole "nesting" thing has gone a little overboard. There isn't a closet, drawer or piece of clothing that we haven't gone through and purged. It feels nice to a certain extent but also came to a head this weekend when Emma started crying and said "You guys have been cleaning allllll day, when are you going to play with me?" Kinda sad!

Then we decided this past Sunday was a good day to remodel the bathroom. Probably should have done that a lot earlier or after the baby. It is stressing me out to not have it "done" and have everything put away.

These past few weeks have been much of the same -- cleaning, lots of doctors appointments (every week) and just regular life.

Emma and Owen went to the dentist for the first time! I know they say that you should take them at 3 but Emma has a weird thing about people touching her neck and I didn't want the dentist to become something negative. I knew her teeth were perfect so I wasn't worried about waiting an extra year. Emma is great about letting us brush her teeth and always has been. Owen on the other hand has been a challenge. He went through a phase where he HATED having his teeth brushed. I decided to call when I noticed a really small dark spot (the size of a pin head) on one of his molars.

They both did well at the dentist but after a while Owen became agitated and cried a lot. He cried all through the exam (they do the cleaning first before the kids get upset :)) and x-rays. He only has that one spot and they decided since it was so small and he was so upset to wait at least 6 months to fill it to not give him a negative association with the dentist. We will see how he does in 6 months! Emma's teeth are crowded like mine but are perfect. They use this weird light machine to test the depth and strength of the enamel on her teeth and found a spot in the very back of her last molar that is "weak" and may turn into a cavity but right now it is not. So, now after we brush their teeth we add a concentrated fluoride topical to their teeth (basically I brush them twice at night, fun for me!) that should prevent any cavities in the future.

Lots of pictures to come!

The last few weeks!

We have been SO busy, it seems like there is always something going on!

Two weeks ago we headed to Utah for Eclipse! It was so fun seeing all the family and having all the kids together! I am sure it seems really hectic to some but for me that is exactly how family gatherings were growing up. Whenever we would get together with our family (my dads side) it was always tons of people and TONS of kids! And we got together for every holiday including 4th of July! Those are some of my favorite childhood memories and I hope that they will be for my children too.

We did all the things we look forward to in Utah. Ate at Cafe Rio, went to see Toy Story 3 with all the kids, went to the park, went to IKEA, had Jovie's birthday party! It was really fun! Aside from some snotty teenage girl trying to steal our seats at the movie, the whole weekend went off without a hitch!

I didn't take a single picture when I was there but luckily the others did!

All the Young girls after Eclipse!

Just before heading home :( This picture was taken after only 4 hours of sleep and two very cranky, sick kids. Chloe, it is totally unfair how cute you look after getting home so late the night before!!

All of the Young grand kids/cousins together! Jovie, Emma and Owen all had really high fevers on our last day.

After we got back from Utah we went to my sister Kalys house for 4th of July, had a BBQ and watched fireworks from her apartment. They were being shot off from across the street! After that Craig and I celebrated our 9th (WOW!) anniversary with a quiet dinner and movie. It was really nice to go out together since we hardly ever go out just the two of us. I can not believe how fast time has gone by! It is so hard to grasp that we have been married for 9 years and been "together" for 13 years! We were so young!!

Since our actual anniversary fell in the middle of the week this year we all went out to dinner as a family on the actual day, which was nice. Our kids are very much a part of our marriage!
At the movies on our date night!

We have been spending a lot of time lately getting ready for the baby. This pregnancy has been so hard, compared to the others, that I have had ZERO energy to do anything let alone prepare for the baby. I have been telling my midwives for a while now that something is not *right* but everyone just seems to blow it off as normal pregnancy fatigue. BUT, this is my third go at carrying a baby and how tired I was was not normal. So two weeks ago, Nicki (my favorite midwife!) was in the clinic for my appointment and asked me about the fatigue and I told her about it. She agreed that it was not normal and ordered several blood tests. Low and behold there IS something wrong! I knew it! I am now taking supplements in addition to my normal vitamins and feeling a ton better! Just in time for the nesting phase to begin!

Only 7 more weeks until the baby arrives! She still has no name but she will come regardless! I am *so* looking forward to not being pregnant anymore. :)

Busy, Busy!

So, we have been SUPER busy lately! We have gone camping three times in the last four weeks! It has been really fun even though we got rained out during one our trips. It is great that my parents have such a big RV or it would have been a lot worse. We spent nearly 24 hours in there with 6 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs. We found a campground only 30 minutes from my parents house that is JUST like camping in Magalia! It is kind of weird. It feels like camping in the backyard of the house we grew up in! We go for lots of hikes, eat lots of good food and just relax. This past weekend we went to a lake outside Fort Collins and the weather was amazing! Perfect camping weather! And for Craig and my Dad it was a perfect Father's Day trip!

This weekend we are heading to Utah for 5 days so that should be really fun! While we are there we will all be seeing the Eclipse premiere together at midnight! Hopefully the lines won't be too long since both Sarah and I don't feel like standing in line for hours while in our third trimesters! But, it should be really fun!

Craig just finished another quarter at school for his Masters degree. It is hard on the nights he has school since we only get to see him for a short time after work before he heads off for class, but in the end it will be worth it! For some reason I decided to go back to school myself (apparently I didn't feel I had enough to deal with!) and I finished those classes recently. It was a lot harder then I thought it would be to get everything done. But, I have committed to going again next semester so I hope that I can manage it all with a new baby too!
This pregnancy is still cruising right along. I am 29 weeks already! I can not believe it. We have been discussing names a lot but nothing is really standing out to us as *the one*. She may very well be called Baby Girl her whole life! For the first time, we may have to see her to make a decision on her name. I hope we can get one nailed down before then but maybe not. Oh, well!
There are tons of pics from the last few weeks but I don't have time right now to go through all them and find ones that are acceptable. Here are a couple from yesterday, Father's day and my first pregnancy pic from this pregnancy. It is kind of sad that by the time the third comes along everything is not as important! Haha! But, I do hope to take more before the pregnancy is over.
28 Weeks with baby #3!

Emma's quotes!

Kids say some really funny things. Sometimes they are at the wrong time! Here are two from this past week from Emma --

We were in the bathroom at Little Monkey Buziness and a little girl didn't want to go to the bathroom so she was laying on the floor throwing a fit. We walked in and Emma looked at the little girl for a minute and said "Wow Mom, she is being really naughty" I about died when the mom of the other girl gave me a dirty look. Ha ha ha!

Then yesterday, we were laying on the couch together and Emma couldn't get comfortable. She looks at my stomach (which has *really* popped out now) and said "The baby sure is getting fat in there". At least she didn't say "Wow mom, you sure are getting fat!" even though they pretty much mean the same thing! Kids are funny!

Our newest addition!

We had another ultrasound yesterday to get a peek at our baby girl! We have had a couple of extra ultrasound this time around and it has been great. Because of the injury to my uterus and cervix during Owens birth they have been doing additional monitoring this time to make sure everything is holding up properly. So far everything is going perfectly!

I am definitely not in love with the Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor that I have seen twice now to go over the ultrasound results! Our hospital has the MFM docs rotate through the ultrasound clinic so that there is always someone there who can go over the result immediately. It is pretty nice! The first time I saw this doctor I was at 14 weeks and I was by myself. He came in to go over the results and scared me to death! He started talking about my scarring and how "if I am able to" carry the baby to 25 or 26 weeks, we have a couple of different delivery options and how the baby will be in the NICU and all kinds of things that a pregnant girl doesn't want to hear! I left in tears. It sucked.

We saw a different doc at my anatomy ultrasound and she was great. We went over everything again and she told us that the baby was too active to get a good picture of her heart and spine, so we would need to come back in. I have always been told that if you want to know the gender at the ultrasound to drink something sugary before you go in to make sure the baby is awake and moving around. Apparently, I followed that a little too well this time!

We went again yesterday and everything is still going great! They got great images of the heart and spine, measured her again and she is perfect! Then the same MFM doc came in to go over the results that I had at my 14 week ultrasound. He is a really nice guy but man does he say some really dumb things! He told us how everything was perfect, that my body was holding up really well and there isn't any reason to worry about pre-term delivery at this point. I was really relieved since that something he aid we would have to worry about before. I asked if I was past the point of viability (if the baby came today, she would have a good chance of survival) and he said yes, "BUT it would be better to have a miscarriage then deliver a baby at 24 weeks". Um, that is not something someone in my position wants to hear! I understand that his job is to deal with the worst of the worst when it comes to moms and babies, but come on. He followed that up quickly with "So stay pregnant for a while longer!"

A little while later I asked Craig what he thought of the miscarriage comment and he laughed and said "I was hoping you didn't catch that he said that". Ha Ha!

Now, just to find a name for this little one. She may not have a name before she is born if keep this going!

Summer Baby...

So, I thought that having a baby over the summer would be great. You don't have to worry about the baby being cold and most importantly you don't have to deal with RSV, which almost killed Owen. There are tons of cute maternity clothes for summer too!

I WAS SO WRONG! It was only 87 degrees today and I thought I was going to die of heat stroke! Seriously, it was hard to do anything! It took everything in me not to melt on the floor or take a really long nap!

I am not a fan of really hot weather so Denver is great for us because we have very few days near the 100 degree mark and we get lots of thunderstorms in the afternoons to cool things down. Not today. We broke the record high today. Blah!

We couldn't play outside since it was so hot, so we laid out the picnic blanket in the living room and had popsicles! The kids loved it! When Craig got home he blew up this years outdoor kiddie pool and the kids had so much fun! I was *really* tempted to get in with them!

I think tomorrow I may have to turn on the air conditioner for the first time this year. It is supposed to be 90 degrees tomorrow! Good news is the weekend and Memorial Day is back in the 70's and perfect!!

And... we're back!

So, I really didn't feel like blogging anymore. It just wasn't as fun as it used to be and so I needed a break. Lately, Craig has been asking if I am going to start again since the new baby is coming and it is a good idea to use a blog as a record keeping tool. So, here I am again. Hopefully I will get back into it like I did before! Here is a brief rundown of the last few months:

On New Years Day we found out we are having baby number 3!! It was a lot easier this time to get pregnant so that was a relief. I actually took a medication called Letrozole which is a breast cancer medication that has an unintended side effect of boosting fertility in women who have PCOS. It was a lot better then having Craig give me shots everyday!

It is weird that with all these warning labels, a medication can help you get pregnant!!

This pregnancy has been so different then the others. I had morning sickness for the first three months and that was really hard! I never threw up but I was always nauseated. It really sucked! Things are going better now, I am just really tired all the time. With the others I felt really good during the second and third trimesters but this time I can't seem to find that magical second trimester *high*. Bummer!

We took Emma to Disneyland for her 4th birthday! It was a fun trip to CA to see my brother Jeremy and then to Disney and the beach. It was a great time to take her too. I know a lot of people say that you should wait until they can remember going to Disneyland but then a lot of the *magic* is gone. Emma believes that she met the actual Disney princesses and that all the other characters are real too. When they are older they know that they are just representation of what they see on tv and movies. The kids did great and we had a great time. It wasn't all that fun for me since I couldn't go on any of the adult rides and had morning sickness the whole trip, but it was worth it to see the kids have so much fun!

The kids loved flying and really loved having their own backpacks with stuff for them to do!

There were obviously tons more pictures but there are too many to pick from.

Emma's four year old stats:
Height - 39 inches
Weight - 34.6 pounds
BMI - 15

She checks out just perfect all around! She is around the 10-20th percentile in height and weight just as she has been since she started walking.

We headed to Utah in February to meet the new baby in the family -- Eleanor Jane Mooso! What a cutie she is! She looks exactly like Chloe! Emma was so excited to see all her cousins but she was most excited about seeing and holding a new baby girl! She did pretty good too.

After that Owen turned two!! I can not believe how fast time is flying by! Owen is in love with the movie Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs, so we naturally had a Ice Age party for him!

Owens two year old stats:
Height 35 1/2 inches -- 75%
Weight: 31.4lbs -- 85%
I can't remember if they did a head circumference but if they did it would still be greater then the 95%. Kids got a HUGE head!

He is slightly delayed in speech but is advanced in his motor development. Just a typical boy! He is doing great and I am not concerned at all. He has started to really talk a lot more in the last few weeks too.

On April 23rd we went for our big anatomy ultrasound and found out that we are having a GIRL! I had a feeling all along but am relieved that I was right! Emma has been wanting a baby sister for so long that I am glad we could get what she wanted. When the ultrasound tech said it was a girl, I looked over at Emma and said "did you hear that? Its a girl!" and she said "I told you so!" It was pretty cute!

It was nice to have some other memories associated with April 23rd rather then the ones we have had for the past two years. It was two years ago on that day that we almost lost Owen. It is amazing to look back and think that he was only four weeks old when he stopped breathing. So little! He is an amazing, cuddly, funny little boy and we are so thankful that everything turned out so well.

April 23, 2008 -- two days shy of one month old

March 25, 2010 -- the day before turning two years old!!

Thrown in the past few months have been lots of gymnastics, parks, family night at Little Monkey Bizness, the zoo and Children's Museum. Way too many things to go into in one post! :)

We have a few camping trips scheduled for this summer and a trip to Utah to see Eclipse! It should be a lot of fun!!! Hopefully somewhere in there we can get together all the things the baby will need when she gets here. We haven't done anything for her yet at all! My c-section is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, September 9th! Only 14 more weeks to go!

Much more blogging to come!!!

Long time, no see! LOOOOOONG Update!

I have been in a serious blogging funk! Sorry! Things are going good here, just the same old thing. Here is a brief rundown of the past 9 weeks :)

Halloween was fun! We went to the pumpkin patch with the family. Emma got her face painted again and she always picks the exact same butterfly. We did the petting zoo, pony rides, regular rides, picked out pumpkins and took a little train ride. It was fun! For Halloween Emma was supposed to be sleeping beauty but at the last minute decided she wanted to be a pink fairy. I ran out on Thursday night and got the stuff to throw together a pink fairy costume. It turned out pretty cute! Owen was sick but we still took him and Emma to a festival and trick or treating during the day at a local outdoor mall and they handed out candy to the trick or treaters that night. They thought it was so fun to go to the door and put candy in the kids baskets.

Emma and Owen were playing on the couch one day when Emma fell backwards and hit her head on the arm of the couch. I picked her up and held her while trying to find the knot on her head but when I pulled my hand away it was covered in blood. Not fun. I cleaned her up and realized it is a pretty big split and at one point on the wound you could see through her scalp. Yuck! I called the pediatrician and we went in an hour later. She wound up getting 5 staples put in. They had to cleanse the area with freezing cold saline and that was the worst part, she kept saying that she didn't "want a bath". They put the staples in without anesthesia too! I took her to get the staples out by myself and it was huge mistake. One of the staples got stuck and we couldn't get it out so they had to bring in another doctor and some wire cutters. I had to hold her in my lap and hold her head with my hands. She was hysterical saying that I was hurting her and she wanted them to stop. She kept begging me to stop... it was awful. I just sat there and held her down and cried with her. Makes me teary just thinking about it.

We went to the Marine Corps Ball and had a great time! It was at the amazing Brown Palace Hotel... just beautiful! http://www.brownpalace.com/

We had a quite Thanksgiving at my parents. On Thanksgiving morning I tried to save Owen from falling off the bed and pulled a muscle in my neck. It hurt so bad the whole day. I tried to lay down that night and couldn't sleep because it was just too painful so I was up all night. Not fun at all. It made it easy to get up for Black Friday though! Kaly and I got to Target at 4:30 am and got some great deals, as well as at Kohls and Gymboree. I SAVED $300 in total on Black Friday! I love Black Friday!

The day after Thanksgiving we got our tree and put up our Christmas decorations. The kids LOVE the tree and help Craig water it every night. Emma usually reminds him that the tree needs water. It is really cute. Owen has been really good with it and doesn't play with any of the ornaments or anything. Last year we bought a bunch of shatter-proof ornaments but it doesn't really seem necessary since he just looks at it but doesn't touch.

We went downtown and had dinner at Bubba Gumps and then to the annual Parade of Lights. Emma LOVED the marching bands. She thought they were the best. Owen slept through the whole thing! We also went to the Parade of Lights in Longmont (where my parents live) and had a good time too. Owen just wanted to stomp in this little patch of snow/ice the whole time and didn't loot at the parade at all!

Craig and I celebrated our 30th birthdays this month! I still can't believe it. I had a hard time the day before my birthday as I kept counting down the final hours of my 20's. It sucked. I had a hard time letting go of the fact that I was no longer going to be a 20-something. BUT, I do know that my 30's will make my 20's look like they were really not that great. I just *know* that these next few years are going to be the best yet! We had a long week of celebrations of family dinner at the Outback, date night at the Melting Pot, Club level seats for the Denver Broncos game and then family dinner at the Olive Garden. Whew! The game was AWESOME! We had such a great time and Craig was in heaven! We decided that we wanted to get season tickets to the Broncos so we put our names on the waiting list.... we are number 32,000. They said it will take around 10 years to get our names called. Crazy! Denver LOVES our Broncos!

I will do a separate post for Christmas but it was so great! We planned on staying at my parents just the night of Christmas Eve and then going home Christmas night after dinner but we wound up staying for 3 days! Love it!

Mmmm..... Melting Pot!

Hope everyone has a happy and healthy New Year! We are so excited for what the new year will bring!!
